How does the GE Instajack Wireless Phone Jack System set up?
there is not much in the way of information on the packaging, but, you plug one unit into an electrical outlet and connect a line cord from the jack with dial tone to this unit, then plug the other unit into an electrical outlet, and connect a line cord from this unit to your phone…
i would not recommend using one of these…
CID data does not pass to the remote unit…
can not send data over the connection – no fax machines, no DSL signal, not dial up modems…
i have not found a manual for these units, so not sure if it uses RF – and if so at what frequency,if it uses RF, there is a possibility that it can be listened in on with a radio scanner… if it uses power line, then the two adapters need to be connected to electrical outlets that are on the same phase of power from your electric meter… since the information that I have been able to find indicates that it will work between floors, and does not pass CID info, i assume that it is using power line to connect the devices…
